FAYETTE COUNTY CENTER -- OPEN HOUSE Special thanks to the Fayette County Board of Education who allowed us to place our Children's Center on their property.
PHOTO BY AMANDA SNIPES -- THE TIMES RECORD From the Board of Directors of the West Alabama CAC: A special thanks to all of the people above and many others who were instrumental in the Children's Center becoming a reality for Fayette County. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on March 2002 to celebrate the opening of the West Alabama Children's Advocacy Center. Shown participating in the event are (from left to right) DHR Director Mattie Jackson, Center Board Member Julie Moore, Social, Worker Sonia Lawson, Board of Education member Fred Colburn, Center Board Member Bill McCollum, District Attorney Chris McCool, Curtis Graham, FES Principal Reba Anderson, Judge James Moore and Center Director Paul Young. The Advocacy Center is equipped with the technology to video tape interviews of abused children so that they are not forced to relive the experience numerous times throughout the investigation and prosecution of a child abuse case. The Center also serves as a central location where all interviews, counseling sessions and court preparation can be done in a relaxed non-threatening, pleasant environment.
